Does Viking Ocean really include shore excursions?

Viking does include one complimentary shore excursion in every port, but there are important caveats. Your cabin category determines when you're able to book your included excursion, and it's possible to be sold out even in a higher cabin category. The included options also tend to be fairly basic, one to two choices, while most of the more appealing excursions carry an additional cost. Many clients end up choosing the paid options anyway.
